NDI envisions Experiential Master planning from both a functional and cinematic perspective. We incorporate storyline with programmatic relationships of the project to create the best guest experience possible. When the total picture is understood as a sum of its parts, then the parts can be designed to their ultimate potential. Master planning integrates the storyline, local culture, and context of the project with infrastructure requirements to achieve the objectives of a functional operation.
Multiple adjacency diagrams or land use zoning plans are created suggesting key arrival and departure points as well as offering meaningful suggestions for circulation. These diagrams all work within the framework of limitations and opportunities offered by the specific site and code requirements. NDI creates these diagrams to illustrate access and circulation for guest, traffic, back of house, as well as operations.
In the process, we define program lists to organize and set up the basic planning requirements and volumetric massing, to study the proportions, relationships, and cinematic views.
After the approval of the preliminary diagrams and vision, the team drafts hand-drawn black and white master plans along with 3D volumetric massing diagrams for final approval. The final master plan is then generated using CAD with fill color and a program legend. This is a multistep process requires involvement from a highly-coordinated multi-disciplinary team to both refine the Master Plan and move forward with the Vision.
